DETAILED SCHEDULE - RESOURCES

The Language Resource Center at Salem State College is run by the Department of Foreign Languages and is dedicated to making your language learning and cultural expansion experience more productive and more enjoyable.

Some of the things you will find at this site only can be done from LRC computers ( LRC ). Others can be done from any computer connected to the Web ( WEB ).

Some things you can do at the LRC and at this website

  Get help from a foreign language tutor:
  Take a placement test: Determine what language course you should take:
  •  LRC   WEB  Spanish (currently available only for Spanish).
  Listen to the audio tracks / view the video segments for the lab component of your language course
  •  LRC : Click on the appropriate course on the left navigation column
  •  WEB  In some cases this can be done online; check with your instructor
   LRC  Practice your language skills with language software and web-based exercises, either that provided by textbook publishers or additional software
   LRC   WEB  Use foreign language reference tools and study materials (Spanish, French, German, Italian)
   LRC  Listen to foreign language songs while you view the lyrics
   LRC   WEB  Read about Spanish or French language music, performers and their lyrics (many translated): Spanish language, French language, Portuguese lyrics
   WEB   LRC  Join a language/culture mailing list and/or chatroom
   LRC Watch a foreign language film or documentary on video or DVD: Spanish-language, French-language, or Italian-language.
Groups may watch videos and DVD's with the projector
   LRC  Word processing in foreign languages:
   LRC   WEB  Listen to foreign language radio broadcasts
   LRC   WEB  Read foreign language media
   LRC  Consult a tutor (when available)
